PSO Updates 63, 64 & 65
by Ian Neale 29/06/2000    Printer-friendly version of this page

PSO has published three new updates downloadable as .pdf files from the PSO website.

  1. Update No 63 affects SSASs and basically extends the restrictions on certain investments and borrowing which apply to schemes which permit annuity purchase deferral to age 75, to schemes which still include the 5 year rule.
  2. Update No 64 is brief and emphasises that Revenue practice on rebated and shared insurance commission (see PSO Update No 33) applies widely and includes transactions such as annuity purchases.
  3. Update No 65 is about Customer Service. A large number of new approval application forms are attached, which para 14 says must be used with effect from 3 July. If you haven't got your copies yet, relax: PSO has told Aries that ""must" should read "may". Form PS274 (4/00) lacks sections G - N inclusive and also contains a minor error in the notes, where Note A.5 should read "6 - Charity (See notes 7 and 8)". Aries was told these mistakes will be corrected when the next Update is published, quite soon.
  4. PSO has also confirmed to Aries that publication of the years-overdue new edition of the FSAVCS Supplement to PNs (to replace the current 1989 edition) remains on the back burner and will stay there, at least until resources emerge from the PSO's current stakeholder and pension sharing projects.

Footnote (6/7/2000)

Although paper copies of these three PSO Updates, all dated 16 June, arrived on our desk at Aries eight days later, they only appeared on the PSO website on 4/5 July. Meanwhile, owing to a mix-up at the Revenue, Updates Nos 66 and 67 were posted five days early. . .
