New amendments to Registered Pension Schemes Manual (RPSM)
by Ian Neale and Paul Reynolds 27/04/2007    Printer-friendly version of this page

Hard on the heels of a short set of amendments to RPSM Chapter 2 which appeared earlier this month, dealing with changes to the scheme establishment rules*, on 25 April HMRC published a further and much more substantial set of changes to the RPSM.

*The rules on who can establish a registered pension scheme that is not an occupational pension scheme were changed with effect from 6 April 2007. For pension schemes applying for registration with HMRC on or after that date, the scheme must be established by a person with permission under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to establish in the UK a personal pension scheme or a stakeholder pension scheme.

The list of pages amended runs to 65, which excludes a significant number of pages which have been altered in ways HMRC deems too trivial to be worthy of notification (eg deletion of duplicate wording, correction of typos and hyperlink errors). At Aries we shall nevertheless continue to strive to offer a faithful copy of the RPSM text within the Aries Pensions System.
