Today the long-awaited amendments to the Transfer Values Regs (SI 1996/1847) were laid and will come into force on 1 October 2008. The new Regulations (SI 2008/1050) detail the new scheme-specific manner for calculating and verifying cash equivalents and cash transfer sums, first announced in January 2007 (see Aries report), which has emerged from a DWP consultation last July (see Aries article). An Explanatory Memorandum accompanies the Regs as usual. The DWP has in addition published a formal response to the consultation.
